Kaarnakamut (Bark Buddies)

"One spring afternoon, I was visiting the graves of my father and grandparents.

As I walked back to my car along the pine-lined path, I noticed what looked like a small puppy staring at me from a nearby birch trunk.

'This is a clear sign,' I thought, and pulled out my camera."

Kastetyttö (Dew Girl)

"I photographed this early one August morning, at dawn, in the yard of my former rural home. A beautiful bush already in its colorful autumn attire.

It was around the same time that my brother's daughter, my goddaughter, was born in the maternity ward of a nearby hospital. Those drops of dew and the birth of the girl. That's why I named the photo "Dewdrop Girl" in her honor."

Kivimorsian (Stone Bride)

"While on a yoga retreat at an organic farm nestled in the mountains of Positano, Italy, I went on photo hikes in the surrounding terrain.

One magnificent afternoon, I climbed ancient stone steps towards the village of Montepertuso, located above Positano. The village offers breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast and time there seems to stand still.

During my climb, I paused for a moment to admire the incredible scenery and glanced down at my feet. On the almost smooth stone step beneath me, patterns formed by tree roots intertwined.

Perhaps the exquisite creations of some local engraver beetle. Out came the camera to capture that peculiar splendor."

Meripoikaset (Sea Cubs)

"I photographed this in the coastal waters of Svartholm Sea Fortress in the Eastern Gulf of Finland, off Loviisa.

On a beautiful autumn day, I got a ride to the fortress with a local artist in his fishing boat.

The photo was originally part of my photo exhibition trilogy Suomenlinna-Svartholma, Tracing Ehrensvärd, which took place in Helsinki and Loviisa between 2008 and 2010."

Merisulhanen (Sea Groom)

"I photographed this in a sea cave in the Ionian Sea, which is part of the Mediterranean.

The cave is located near the island of Skorpios, which was formerly owned by the Onassis family. I passed it on a boat trip from Lefkada towards the cave for a swimming and photography break.

The photo was originally included in the background images on the screen for my presentation MY WAY - Minna Metsärinne's dance photography work."
